What began as a glorious day rapidly became one of frustration as an e-mail arrived from The Cavendish secretary announcing that they'd gone down from five to four players overnight and hence wouldn't be able to field a team this evening. There was almost a chance to organise an internal game - with fourteen Remnants known to be available we weren't far off being able to repeat the Remsey Town vs. Rem Ditton game that followed a similar Cavendish cancellation a few years back. But in the end it seemed better to free up people's evenings sooner rather than later, and try again next week . . .
. . . although that too is rather up in the air, with Mott-MacDonald also having cancelled and St Barnabas unable to reschedule last week's wash-out. There are possibilities of a game against Little Paxton, or maybe even trying again with The Cavendish, but at the moment it looks like at least one of next week's fixtures will be internal, which means we'll need as many hands on deck as possible. And that, as you all know, means calling Geoff . . .
