Remnants vs. The Beehive

August 15, 2007
Fitzwilliam College

Match cancelled.

Report by Daniel Mortlock:

Why couldn't it have rained like this yesterday? That would have saved Remnants no end of embarrassment, even if it would also have halved Dave's bar profits for the month.

Wentworth Road, just east of Fitzwilliam College's playing fields, at about match time.

So, failing that, why couldn't it have rained at 2pm? Or 3pm? Or 4pm? Or even 5pm? If the ground had been deluged earlier in the day we would have been able to prevent twenty-odd people turning up to look an archipelago of puddles . . . but, as it was, the rain came at about 5:30pm, by which stage The Beehive convoy was already on its way, as were most of us too. The one compensation was that the hard-core players had an excuse to head off to The Grapes or Mickey Flynn's (or both, in one case) for some cleansing ales.

Cambridge rainfall for the day of Wednesday, August 15, 2007, as recorded at Cambridge Weather site.
