(The club secretary asked that this note be put on the web-site;
please take a moment to read it and see if you can
help out in any of the areas mentioned.)
It has become increasingly difficult to run the club in the last few weeks.
This is because a number of players:
do not return phonecalls;
withdraw very late from matches;
turn up late, on the wrong day, or not at all;
do not offer to help with, e.g.,
packing the kit,
collecting match fees,
or changing the scoreboard;
leave without paying their match-fees or giving their availabilities
for the next week.
This situation can be improved if more players:
keep in touch by ringing me at once if their availability changes
(if you become available as well as if you become unavailable);
give realistic availabilities;
note which day(s) you are playing;
offer to help in the chores listed above;
pay match-fees and subscriptions without having to be chased.
Running the club is unpaid and time-consuming.
If there is not rather more support that at present
I may consider whether I wish to continue as secretary.
