The standard "just confirming next week's match" e-mail to Cambridge Assessment's organier received a decidedly non-standard response: "Really sorry we've had a mix up on our end. We had our game with you scheduled in for the 19th. I can clearly see from the email chain that this is our error. [...] Really sorry for the mix up on our side and for having to pull out of this fixture so last minute." These things of course can happen, but the question was now: could we find another team to play at short notice us and why would it be NCI?

A somewhat forlorn message went out to the WhatsApp group late on Friday afternoon . . . but just eight minutes later we had confirmed a fixture agains NC- er, St Giles.
