[10/06/2026, 11:20:28] Tim Simmance: Just started raining in Cambridge. Depending on which forecaster you look at, it could be a few light showers during the afternoon or something heavier and more prolonged. Rain radar suggesting the former at the moment.
[10/06/2026, 11:25:22] Daniel Mortlock: Covers are on at Leckhampton, so it would take really heavy rain to cancel the game.
[10/06/2026, 11:33:38] Martin Heginbotham: Really heavy rain in Bourn with Thunder and Lightning.
[10/06/2026, 11:40:55] Lahiru Wijedasa: sme here at Fitz. The covers are on.
[10/06/2026, 11:48:26] Daniel Mortlock: This is not ideal.
[10/06/2026, 12:03:32] Paul Jordan: It must be very localised as it's raining heavily in Ely. The game I was due to play in Horringer has been called off due to a waterlogged pitch
[10/06/2026, 12:18:40] Cameron Petrie: It absolutely bucketed down in town 30 mins ago
[10/06/2026, 12:21:34] Daniel Mortlock: I just talked to the gardener at Leckhampton (the actual groundsman is away today) and he confirmed that the covers have been sufficient to stop water getting onto the wicket and the ground is draining well. So if there's no more significant rain it's game on; if there is further rain I'll give him another call and update accordingly.
[10/06/2026, 12:41:00] James Robinson: Pitch inspection at Fitz , square is very wet
[10/06/2026, 12:41:20] James Robinson: That's for over 50s to avoid confusion
[10/06/2026, 13:10:35] Neil Grover: Don't want to be Doug Downer
[10/06/2026, 13:10:58] Neil Grover: Suddenly very dark here
[10/06/2026, 13:20:48] James Robinson: Over 50s Cancelled
[10/06/2026, 13:26:48] Daniel Mortlock: I should add that the Leckhampton groundsman has given us the freedom to cancel if, on the basis of the forecast, we don't think a decent game will be possible. Not relevant now, but will solicit views at around 4:30pm or so.
[10/06/2026, 14:41:42] Qaiser Ahmed: Its heavy rain in Cambourne
[10/06/2026, 14:43:22] Daniel Mortlock: Here we go again . . .
[10/06/2026, 14:43:33] Cameron Petrie: It's coming townwards
[10/06/2026, 14:43:50] Neil Grover: Lots of Thunder in Northstowe and rain
[10/06/2026, 14:44:27] Hume Fisher: The forecast looks like one more downpour in Cambridge then maybe spotted showers for the afternoon / evening
[10/06/2026, 14:45:32] Neil Grover: You have a much more optimistic weather app than mine!
[10/06/2026, 14:46:54] Francois Rossouw: Same in Willingham, with tiny hail stones. More like granules, but still.
[10/06/2026, 14:58:47] Daniel Mortlock: Cambridge feels like the "upside down" from Stranger Things at the moment - incredible lightning strikes and dramatic thunder cracks with an inky grey sky.
[10/06/2026, 15:08:43] Dave Norman: It's like Armageddon at Fitzwilliam
[10/06/2026, 15:09:15] Hume Fisher: Surely we're in trouble here . . .
[10/06/2026, 15:09:16] Daniel Mortlock: Yes, pretty much the end of days.
[10/06/2026, 15:11:49] Hume Fisher: More importantly the end of cricket
[10/06/2026, 15:13:14] Dave Norman: You can play water polo at Fitzwilliam that's about all.
[10/06/2026, 15:21:35] Neil Grover: Ill bring me trunks then
[10/06/2026, 15:22:37] Daniel Mortlock: Well, we lasted longer than most Cambridge cricket fixtures today, but that last downpour has done for us too: tonight's game is rained off.
[10/06/2026, 15:27:36] Ev Fox: Thanks for all these great descriptive phrases to throw in my weather forecasts guys
