The Woozlers (91/5 in 12 8-ball overs)
and
Remnants
did not reach a result.

Report by Paul Jordan:

One thing that can be said about Remnants is that it is a broad church and within its ranks have a wide range of talented individuals, not least our resident Doha-based meteorologist Everton Fox. However, this week he has been rather usurped by a plethora of weather watchers and forecasters within Remnants. This week in particular has been overshadowed by typically inclement English weather, with the forecast of rain being enough to cancel Sunday's fixture at Grantchester; would we escape it tonight?

The Woozlers have been a thorn in the side of Remnants of late and tonight was a chance to remedy that. Some familiar faces swelled the Woozlers' ranks, but tonight Remnants had a strong side out with some talented batters and experienced bowlers.

Woozlers kicked things off and our opening attack of Sushant Achawal (1/18) and Temor Khan (1/18) gave very little away. Temor, in particular, had the batsmen playing and missing much to the delight of Marcus Baker behind the stumps. A change of bowling gave the Woozlers a reprieve largely due to Paul Jordan (1/30) being the recipient of some hard hitting in spite of bowling pretty straight and full. Naveen Chouksey (1/16) bowled a good line and was rewarded with a wicket for his endeavours. At the end of the 10th (eight-ball) over Will Phelps (1/5) came on and in his first over conceded just a few runs. At the end of the 11th Woozlers were 91/5 and with 3 overs to go a total of just 120-odd would not be a fanciful supposition, leaving us with the chance to chase it down and gain a much needed victory.

This was shaping up well and then the heavens opened and from that moment it looked like it was all over. The rainfall was heavy enough to scupper any resumption of play, but with the sun emerging it gave both teams a chance to socialise earlier than expected. A pity that the weather beat us on this occasion but in terms of ending a losing streak we did at least claim a draw and can only hope that next time we can do one better.
