Remnants (153/3 in 20 6-ball overs)
defeated
Tektronix (143/7 in 20 6-ball overs)
by 10 runs.

Report by Daniel Mortlock:

Tonight we had ourselves yet another new opposition, in the form of Tektronix. They were, almost by definition, an unknown quantity, although it does seem a pattern is emerging in so far as Cambridge's technology companies prefer retirement at 25 -- runs, that is; their employment policies are presumably more flexible. When Mott-McDonald suggested this back in June it seemed to be just one of their many idiosynchocies, albeit a bit more standard than the "two runs but no extra ball for a wide" rule that they tried to foist upon us. However Tektronix also wanted retrenchment at the quarter-century, to which we acquiesced - which turned out to be an inspired decision, as it allowed some eight Remnants to get a bat but, critically, without the self-destructive collapse that usually requires.

Oliver Rex (28*), John Gull (26*) and Jon Steele (26*) all raced to their bus pass, and then Andy Owen (20), Chris McNeill (16) and Richard Rex (14*) continued the good work, taking us to a very healthy 153/3.

John Gull basks in the glory of his undefeated 26.

Our efforts in the field weren't quite so dominant, with most bowlers proving worryingly expensive, and only Oliver Rex (1/7) and Chris McNeill (0/22) went for less than a run a ball. Still, thanks to the efforts of Richard Rex (2/28) and Andy Owen (3 stumpings), we took wickets with sufficient regularity to prevent the batsmen building too much momentum, and in the end we just had too many runs on the board.

Ben Armitage, his minder, his minder's minder, Andy Owen, Andy's minder and Russell Woolf leave the field.

That victory has taken our season's ledger to an almost respectable 6 wins, 8 losses and 1 tie. Obviously it would have been nice to have avoided some of those losses, but the most frustrating result was probably the tie, when we snatched parity from the jaws of victory against Granta. And, lo and behold, we'll have a chance to rectify that result by going one better when we have our return match against them tomorrow.
