Remnants vs. The Cavendish Laboratory

August 28, 2007
Fitzwilliam College

Match cancelled.

We haven't really had much luck with The Cavendish Lab this year. Our first fixture against them became the first of the season's many wash-outs (but sufficiently late in the day to oblige everyone to turn up); the second was a bit of a damp squib of a game which we won comfortably due to their lack of players (and bowlers in particular); next we had the season's daftest cancellation, when they'd managed to organise games against three separate opponents; and today we got the season's second daftest cancellation, when they forgot about yesterday being a bank holiday and thus only started to organise a team on the morning of the game. Unsurprisingly these belated attempts didn't get very far, with the number of players roughly matching the time of the day (i.e. one at 1pm, 2 at 2pm, etc.), but at least they contacted us in good time to prevent us making wasted trips to the ground.

Thus our last four external games of the seasons have all been cancelled, leaving our rather dodgy win against UCLES way back on August 14 as the last act of our season proper, with only tomorrow's mammoth thirteen-a-side internal game to come.
