Remnants vs. Hockerill College

July 18, 1999
Fitzwilliam College

Remnants (199/9 in 40 6-ball overs)
and
Hockerill College (199/7 in 40 6-ball overs)
tied.

A rare Sunday game for Remnants saw us take on Hockerill College in a 40-over game.

Batting first, our innings was completely dominated by Tony Malik's 142, the first century for the club in over a decade, and almost 40 more than the previous highest score. Remarkably, Tony scored 71% of our eventual total of 199/9, receiving a little support from Dave Rowson (17) and Rupert Brown (13), the only other batsmen to make more than 4.

Hockerill's innings was much more balanced, but they never got away from us, largely thanks to Andy Reid (3/26) succeeding with the ball where he failed with with the bat. The end result - a tie - was probably a fair way to end a great day on which 398 runs were scored and 16 wickets were taken.
