Wednesday, August 8, 1990
Fitzwilliam College

Remnants (149/4 in 20 6-ball overs)
defeated
Unwin's (25 all out in 8.4 6-ball overs)
by 124 runs.

Report by Daniel Mortlock:

In our return match against Unwin's the Remnants top order got going nicely, with Nick Johnson (41), Clarke Brunt (40) and Tony Malik (38) all making good contributions. The same, however, cannot be said for Paul Jordan (0*), . . .

. . . but he more than made up for that with the ball as delivered probably the most remarkable bowling spell in the club's history, taking 7/8 from his four overs. It beggars belief really: Paul's strike rate was a wicket every 3.43 balls and four of the runs were from wides. With Andy Brown (1/1) and Steve Rawlings (1/3) also bowling well it's maybe no surprise that Unwin's didn't threaten our total, although bowling them out for 25 (i.e., less than three of our batsmen individually) was something else again.

Aside from Paul producing the best bowling figures in club history, it was also the smallest total we'd ever dismissed the opposition for, although it was only our second biggest runs victory.
